The brief
In this first issue of DRIFT Epicure, a dedicated food and drink subsidiary its parent title, DRIFT Journal, I was tasked with introducing readers to restaurateur and celebrity chef, Jude Kereama. The piece explores Jude's life as a chef, from his upbringing in New Zealand, to his move to London, and finally his settling in Cornwall to open two of Cornwall's most popular restaurants.

Process
With an interview complete, I set about telling Jude's story, combining quality editorial composition with appetising imagery of his food. I finished the piece with a double-page recipe for one of his favourite dishes, recipes being one of the DRIFT Journal website's top searches.
The result
As the first article within this first volume of DRIFT Epicure, 'Come in for kai' offered readers an intriguing appetiser for the rest of the magazine to come, combining an insight into the life of one of Cornwall's top chefs with a chance for readers to cook one of Jude's popular dishes for themselves.
