The brief

The goal of this editorial inclusion within DRIFT Journal was to tell the inspiring story behind Dive Project Cornwall, a not-for-profit organisation seeking to educate school-aged children on the importance of our oceans. By providing them with the experience of a lifetime – to learn to dive in Cornwall – Dive Project Cornwall seeks to inspire a generation of Ocean Influencers to go out into the world and enact the positive change that our oceans so badly need.

Process

I was given the opportunity to earn my PADI Open Water Diver qualification with Dive Project Cornwall's team of instructors. With this experience 'up my sleeve', I had first-hand experience of the amazing opportunity that the project was giving to school-aged children from around the UK. This, plus informal chats with the instructors between dives, along with a more formal Q&A with Head of Diving, Darren Sutton, gave me everything I needed to fully tell their story.

The result

An piece of pure editorial that seeks to promote the genuine work of a Cornish not-for-profit. Rich with marine imagery, with accounts of my own joyous experiences of one of Cornwall's premier diving locations, it champions the editorial integrity of the DRIFT Journal brand whilst supporting a cause that's critical to the welfare of our oceans.
