The brief

As our first piece of content for Blackhall Engineering, the client wanted us to show how we could establish them as thought leaders. In order to do so, they commissioned me to write about the global manufacturing methodology known as 'Just in Time', evaluating its viability today in the face of a growing raft of supply chain issues including war in Europe, industrial recovery in the wake of Covid-19, and a diminishing workforce.

Process

Key to positioning the client as a thought leader was getting their actual thoughts on paper. To do this, I interviewed the company owner, who has extensive experience implementing the Just in Time methodology and who has seen both its upsides and, more recently, its downsides. From there, it was a case of researching, in detail, the 'top-line' thoughts presented to me during the interview.

As a new client, not only did we fulfil the client directive – positioning them as a thought leader, daring to question a tried-and-trusted global manufacturing methodology; we also proved our ability to dissect complex subject matter, taking 'top-line' direction from them before researching the topic in detail and producing an outstanding, detailed and authoritative piece to present to their industrial peers.
